Colp

Colp
The origins of metalcore band Colp from České Budějovice lie in 1991, when a trash-death formation named Colporrhaphia was formed. Subsequently, the band released two demo records “Death Coiting” and “Discord”. The following EP “Thoughts”, released in 1996 on an audio cassette, lessened music-wise the previously dominant death metal brutality and technical complexity and added more melodic parts. All three early creations were well acclaimed by both critics and fans, and the band thereby played numerous live shows. In 1997, the band shortened its name to current Colp and recorded its debut album “Can’t Escape”, on which its music shifted to progressive trash metal with HC elements. Two years later, the second album “Paralysis” was released. The band furthermore performed extensively live on both club and festival stages, as well as abroad alongside e.g. Pro-Pain. In 2000, Colp contributed firstly to a tribute album “Jump In The Pit”, dedicated to Testament, with a cover version of “Perilous Nation” song, and secondly to another tribute “For Those About to Rot”, dedicated to AC/DC, with a cover of the classic “T.N.T.” Third such contribution came a year later, when Colp recorded a cover of the song “Bück dich” by Rammstein, which was then selected for the single “Feuer frei” released with the xXx motion picture. In Fall 2003, the band expanded its discography with the release of “Submissive” album, followed by a tour with Miloš Dodo Doležal and Tortharry. In 2005, a three-song promo was released as a preview of an upcoming album, which came out in 2007 under the title “Fake”. A year later, EP “Ultimate” was spawned, followed by the fifth studio album “Masquerade” in 2010.
